About Anger Management
Life is full of so many emotions and each emotion is designed to make human interaction more intimate. Even the negatively managed emotions can bind two people together for a common cause. Anger management studies indicate that anger is actually a secondary emotion. In other words, anger is a product of a much more stronger emotion. You can get angry because you feel frustrated at work and may end up taking that anger out on the people around you. You may get angry because you feel inadequate or because you lack self confidence.
In essence, anger isn’t an emotion that stands alone. It is precipitated by other powerful emotions. One of such emotions that is often the most common cause of anger is unforgiveness. Unforgiveness is a state that lets you relive a wrong that has been done to you before.
An unforgiving person is usually an angry person because he or she is constantly replaying that deed that for them is unforgivable. They say that what you can recall, you can relive and that is exactly what unforgiveness lets you do…it lets you relieve every painful or humiliating moment of that action that brought you so much anger.
Unforgiveness brews anger because the event isn’t forgotten. Each time you remember it, you become mad and the viscious cycle continues. If you haven’t noticed, unforgiveness affects you more than it affects the person you are refusing to forgive.
That’s because you are the one who is stuck in the past while the other person may have moved on a long time ago. Someone once likened bearing a grudge to holding a piece of smoldering charcoal tightly in your palms.
Ultimately, you get burnt… not the other person… no matter how much you envision hurling that red hot coal at the person who get danders up. The fact remains that it is lying in your palm and is producing a sizzling sound as it burns your skin… but you’re so angry that you can’t smell your own flesh burning!
Horrid isn’t it? You need to let go of unforgiveness if you know that it is what is causing you to get angry all the time. To forgive is divine, we all know but very few people practice it. Besides, forgiveness makes you the bigger person! Let go of that grudge and be free of anger today!
